Impact of Race on the Incidence of Hypoglycemia in Hospitalized Older Adults With Type 2 Diabetes

Hypoglycemia is a serious adverse event leading to bad outcomes in hospitalized patients. The risk of hypoglycemia has been previously associated with the African-American race. This retrospective study of hospitalized older adults aimed to identify clinical factors that could explain this association. The home diabetes regimen partially explains the increased risk of hypoglycemia during hospitalization for older African-American men with diabetes.
